Achievements and progress

• KOICA has announced that it will begin implementation of the IATI Standard in 2016.
• KOICA’s publication at the organisation level is a good achievement. Total and disaggregated budgets are published in a machine-readable format, though only two years in advance.

Challenges and room for improvement

• Of the twenty-two indicators that are scored graduated on the basis of format only seven are published in a machine- readable format.
• There is room for improvement in KOICA’s publication of financial and performance data at the activity level. Though commitments and conditions are always published, results and impact appraisals are published only sometimes and budgets, disbursements and expenditures, and budget identifiers are not published at all.

RECOMMENDATIONS

• KOICA will begin implementation of the IATI Standard in 2016 and should aim for full coverage at both the organisation and activity levels.
• KOICA should populate its aid portal with current information.
• KOICA should work on its publication to the IATI Registry with other Korean organisations involved in development work to provide a full picture of its ODA.
