The 2010 EU AidWatch Report was launched this morning in Brussels. Having ‘tracked the EU’s progress towards achieving its aid quantity and quality commitments’, the report states that most donors are yet to adequately address the important issues of aid transparency, conditionality and accountability.

ONE’s aid effectiveness day brought together experts from the German government to discuss the future of development assistance. Reporting on the day in ONE’s blog, Carola Bieniek quotes a participant who summed up a current problem in aid: “Everybody understands that building a school helps to fight poverty. They also understand that building a hospital helps to fight poverty. But that information might even be more important is not quite as easy to understand for most.”
