Women’s Economic Empowerment:
building evidence for better investments
Pakistan
We have been working with public expenditure experts to track national and sub-national funding to women’s economic empowerment (WEE), women’s financial inclusion (WFI), and women’s empowerment collectives (WECs) in Pakistan.
We commissioned Omar Asghar Khan Foundation to undertake research assessing national funding to WEE, WFI, and WECs in Pakistan over the period2016/17 to 2020/21. Their report also offers recommendations for the government of Pakistan and other stakeholders to ensure the transparency of the policies and budgets supporting WEE, WFI and WECs and to advance the WEE agenda.
The report, published in September 2022, can be downloaded below:
Assessing National Funding for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Pakistan
In November 2022 we produced the following brief, with Omar Asghar Khan Foundation, for a roundtable event with policy makers and advocates:
Trends in Funding for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Pakistan
Similar studies have been carried out in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda. Our complete report series can be accessed here.
