Big decisions in the Big Apple
Over the course of 2015, we’re coordinating the Road to 2015 campaign, which aims to up the pressure on governments. We want them to work harder to achieve their existing commitments to publishing their data and ensure transparency is a core element of the future development landscape via the SDGs and beyond.
This week, governments are meeting again in New York for the second drafting session of the Financing for Development (FfD) outcome document. This is the second of three drafting sessions for the commitments that will be endorsed in Addis Ababa at the 3rd FfD Conference this July.
We’ve been following the FfD process closely over the last few months. The FfD outcome document will be important for setting commitments on sustainable development, and we need to make sure that transparency is recognised as integral to achieving them.
So this week, joined by 25 other organisations and networks, we have written advocacy letters to UN Permanent Representatives in New York calling for them to ensure the outcome document includes specific, action-oriented and time-bound commitments to transparency. See our full recommendations in Sally Paxton’s blog here.
