AusAID’s Transparency Charter reached a significant milestone this week with the release of six updated country web pages.

The new ‘transparent’ country pages provide detailed information on AusAID’s work, to explain where Australia’s money is spent and its impact on reducing poverty. Under the Transparency Charter, all country, regional and thematic web pages will be published in this new format by the end of 2012.

The Transparency Charter also commits AusAID to actively participate in the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), which aims to make information about aid spending easier to access, use and understand.

Transparency will continue to be of interest to all as Australia’s aid budget grows to 0.5 per cent of gross national income by 2015-16. Based on current projects, the aid budget is expected to double from $4.3 billion (2010–11) to $8 billion (2015–16).
