OGP: Sweden amongst countries committing to improve aid transparency
Sweden, Canada, Spain, Tanzania and Denmark have committed to improving their aid transparency at the first international Open Government Partnership (OGP) conference.
A review of 35 country action plans – covering countries from North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa – shows a wide range of different priorities which mirror the unique context within each.
Sweden’s plan includes detailed commitments to publishing to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) registry by 2015.
Similarly, Spain has committed to ‘fulfilling the commitments undertaken within the framework of the IATI’, while Tanzania will ‘encourage donors to exercise greater transparency of donor funding…consistent with the IATI principles’.
Denmark has also committed to launching a ‘comprehensive transparency initiative that will present…detailed information about all foreign aid’.
