OGP: Success at aid transparency event
Publish What You Fund and partner organisations hosted a successful event on aid transparency at the Open Government Partnership yesterday, chaired by Elisabeth Ungar of Transparency International Colombia.
Prominent international panellists, such as UK Minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude and US Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs Samantha Power, asked how transparency goals can be promoted to better fulfil wider commitments, such as the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI).
Participants explored how OGP members old and new have incorporated aid transparency commitments in their country action plans. Other speakers included Tanzania Minister of State in the President’s Office Mathias Chikawe and Honduras President of the Institute of Access to Public Information Guadalupe Jerezano.
Paolo de Renzio, of International Budget Partnership, stressed how among the number of transparency initiatives, the OGP stood out as one where donors and recipients all have the chance to sit around the table.
