Global Fund joins the International Aid Transparency Initiative
On June 23 the Global Fund to Fight AIDS Tuberculosis and Malaria announced that is has become the 20th signatory to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), demonstrating the Fund’s commitment to aid transparency.
Becoming a signatory to IATI means that the Global Fund, along with other major donors, will publish its aid information in line with the recently agreed IATI standard. The Fund’s press release states “By signing this initiative, the Global Fund aims to increase aid and results transparency, thereby helping partner countries to govern more efficiently and improve accountability.” It will also be “accessible to a broader audience and […] comparable to information provided by other donors.”
We hope that the Global Fund will be followed by other donors in joining IATI in what is a crucial year for aid transparency.
