Congressional Caucus for Effective Foreign Assistance launches today
Today Representatives Ander Crenshaw (R-FL) and Adam Smith (D-WA) will launch the Congressional Caucus for Effective Foreign Assistance.
The goal of the Caucus is to examine the way the United States currently delivers foreign assistance, explore success stories found in the efficient delivery of assistance, and further the overall effectiveness of foreign assistance and educating other Members on this subject. MFAN principals described the caucus as the first of its kind to focus solely on reforming foreign assistance.
Publish What You Fund welcomes this bipartisan effort and commends Rep. Crenshaw, Rep. Smith, and the other Members involved in this ambitious and very timely project. The Caucus can create a place for discussion of foreign assistance matters but most importantly a place for action – where ideas from across the aisle can materialize.
We hope (S. 1524) and the House (H.R. 2139) serve as an example of reform legislation into which aid transparency can serve as a core building block of aid effectiveness, in particular accountability to US taxpayers and better agency coordination.
