UK supports ‘Country-by-Country’ reporting to make multinational companies more transparent
The British government has announced its support for a move towards ‘country-by-country’ reporting – a requirement which could see “more transparency into [multinational companies] negotiations with developing countries.”
The move is part of an international crackdown on tax havens and calls for improved transparency in the way multinational companies work with developing countries and how they allocate their taxable profit. The move however is largely opposed by businesses and requires a large input from Civil Society Organisations to make sure that transparency within multinational companies is achieved.
